Intel has announced the appointment of Tasha Chuang as Vice President of the Sales and Marketing Group and General Manager of Intel Taiwan, effective May 1. In her new role, Chuang will lead Intel’s Taiwan team to drive business growth, strengthen marketing initiatives, and deepen collaboration with ecosystem partners to empower global customers.

Global semiconductor leader AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) has officially opened its new office in Tainan, Taiwan, signaling a major step forward in the company’s AI development and regional presence. The opening ceremony was led by AMD Taiwan General Manager Chen Min-Hao and attended by Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-Che, who hailed the new site as a milestone in Tainan’s journey to becoming a hub for artificial intelligence.
On February 5, 2025, Yageo Corporation announced its plan to acquire 100% of Shibaura Electronics, a publicly traded Japanese company, in a deal valued at ¥65.56 billion JPY (approximately NT$14 billion or $430 million USD). On January 21, a 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck Taiwan's Chiayi region, with tremors affecting semiconductor giants TSMC and UMC's fabs in Tainan. Due to the seismic intensity exceeding level 4 in certain areas, both companies implemented immediate safety protocols, including personnel evacuation and equipment inspections. While no major equipment damage was reported, unavoidable wafer breakage occurred within furnace tube equipment.
